KHALIDAH ABDUL HADI||Welcoming our little #babyYK|#YKFamily

Becoming a first time young parents is not an easy thing for me. Well, I still have friends whose at my age, 23 never even think to settle down and have a peaceful night. While me, I need to wake up at 3 a.m finding #babyYK is crying because hitting her head at the corner of her baby cot ๐Ÿ˜‚

Not that I'm not being grateful, I'm enjoying it. Really๐Ÿ˜‡ To me, if everyone is facing the same situation, wouldn't that be bored? You will have nothing to talk and gossip about when meeting with your friends later on ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ˜‚

I always find new things in this parenting world, for that I'm thinking to share this with you with the hope of everyone will get a heads up on how your baby's pattern of growing is and you can counter them by yourself.

Basically, when I was engaged with my husband. I'd told him that I wanted to have my own baby's room. Just for the sake of me liking to see the baby's room (haha) . While my husband approved the suggestion with his own reason - He wants our own privacy without baby's 'butt' on his face every morning๐Ÿ˜‚

We DIY-ed our baby room-even painted it on ourself!- while I was in my pregnant stage (Will share this later) and we have come to final word where as our baby will start to sleep on her own starting from her 6th months (which is few weeks more sayang).

Just a simple room to welcome her home with ๐Ÿ’

So, we bought a cheap cot but worth the money for her straight from China (because Malaysia's is selling expensive cot haha) and we taught her to sleep on her own bed - cot since she safely arrived to our home.

Husband has set his rule from the very beginning of my baby's life ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Which are :

  • #babyYK cannot sleep or fall asleep on our bed
  • only change her diaper and get her ready on our bed, right after she's finished dress up, must put her back on her cot
  • never leave #babyYK unattended or alone on our bed
  • longest time to let her cry inside her cot is 10 mins, then carry her and calm her down, and put her back on her cot
  • cot must be free from sharp things (pins, scissors etc)
  • cot cover must be wash at least 3 times a month (hygiene)
  • cot cover must be wash if any milk spilled on it
  • always always always put her back on her cot after she's full/fallen asleep

At first, me as the mother couldn't dealt with it much as I always pity her whenever she cries. And yes, she cries up until now. And my husband always always remind me not to let her be too clingy on me because we don't want to pamper her too much by sticking with us all the time and couldn't live on her own. My baby is the same like others too, Not that she's an angel all the time, she too wants people to hold her especially me - her mother. But, as she grows up. We have seen changes on her. When is the real time she needs us to be with her or when is the time she is acting up just to be clingy with me. For us, we find that whatever we have done to her for the last 5 months actually do help us a lot now.

During her confinement period she has been sleeping on her own in her cot.

Growing up a lil bit...
(In her jaundice period)

Given her 'free-time' sometime.

After getting her the 4hours -hair shaved๐Ÿ˜…

End of confinement period - Her free from swaddle time!
Growing 2nd hair dress up time๐Ÿ˜†

And her current look on her cot as below๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

See, she's crying too sometimes.

My baby now can play on her own and didn't really cry much if no one's around her. Which to me is a good thing so that me and my husband can get other stuffs done (like tidying up the house and cook for our meal etc etc).

But, we do spend our time with her after our works are done. I make sure to myself that every night each of us have time to spend with her so that she won't feel neglected or left out or even lack of love and attention from us. How?

Our way on bedtime story with #babyYK.
(Pssst, I have no idea where this book is now actually๐Ÿ˜‚)

  1. Read story book to her every night before feeding her
  2. Massage her before changing her sleep suit / pajama or even diaper.
  3. Talk to her (even if she doesn't understand) for at least 15-20minutes.
  4. Let her do her tummy time in front of you (I let her do her tummy time since she was in her 2nd month in this world)
Remember parents!
Every touch is important and help your baby grow accordingly insyaAllah.

Pretty much growing up too fast I think๐Ÿ˜”

Of course, as she is growing up fast, the cot wouldn't fit her much. So, husband came out with an idea of buying her a playpen instead of a baby bed. Now, at the age of 5 months, she is sleeping in her own playpen but with layers of comforters so that she feel soft and comfortable instead of a bulky bed.

On her own playpen๐Ÿ˜

Now she's happy to sleep on her own as she have more bigger space in her playpen!

As both of us are working and we don't pretty much have time to play and attend her 24H on weekdays, we think having this playpen is really a good idea since this help our baby to play with safe and is not leave unattended.

She's getting pretty used to sleep on her own now I can see. And for that we are glad that this works on her. She must get herself ready to separate from us starting her 6 months later. We have prepared ourselves by getting ourselves a baby monitor to be put in her room later on. Hope it works with her later insyaAllah!

Anyway, to those who have a baby, you can try this with your baby too. But, make sure you need to stand her cries for at least 10mins for a start. Hehe. They'll get used to it later. If they cry more even after you hold them and put them back in the cot, stay next to the cot and hold her hands and her chest. Tell your baby that you're there next to them until they fall asleep.

Best of luck in trying this parents!
